Villages/Cities

There are many pleasant villages to visit in the area. One is Bossolasco, also called il paese delle rose, because all kinds of roses grow against the facades of the houses in the historic centre. Some smaller, pleasant cities such as Bra, Alba and Asti are within easy reach. Larger cities such as Turin (one of the most beautiful cities in Italy) and Genoa (1,5h drive) or Nice and Monaco (2h drive) are definitely worth a visit and easily accessible by car or train!

Wine

The regions north and west of Mombarcaro are well known for their vineyards. Around Alba there is the Barolo/Barbaresco area and around Dogliani there is the Dolcetta area. From the villages of Barolo and beautiful la Morra you have a beautiful view, with the vineyards draped over the hills like a patchwork quilt. You can of course also taste the different wines at both wine shops and farmers in the area.

Day trips

Of course we cannot list all the different activities in the area here. For example, there is a small safari park just a 15 min drive away. There are also a few excellent art parks nearby. Or you can explore the area by searching for ‘big benches‘. You can even view Piedmont from a hot air balloon! In the tents there is a folder with information ready for you with some tips. Or check out our Facebook page or Instagram. Or you can of course ask us for advice personally!

Events

From late march till late november there are all kinds of local parties and events. Even the villages where nothing usually happens have their own event, still small-scale and authentic Italian. And the people are very friendly, so if you want to join, they will receive you with open arms. One of our favorites are the lavender days in late july in Sale San Giovanni, when the lavender fields are in full bloom.

Beach

In one hour’s drive you are on the beach. So from Meriggiare you can easily take a day trip to the beach. Some beaches are hidden behind the rocks, others are on boulevards of pleasant villages. But the sea is always a pleasure! And if you want to do more than lie on the beach, you can also choose to take a kayak tour or an boat trip to spot whales and dolphins

Walk/Bike

In the area you can take beautifull walks an bike rides. The GTL (Grande Traversata delle Langhe) even passes right next to our terrain (also for mountain bikes). Renting an e-bike is also becoming increasingly popular, and for some of us a lot better on these hills! You can rent these in the neighboring village of Murazzano, if desired with a bicycle trailer behind it for the children.

Market

Italians love their markets. Small markets in the village square with mainly fruit and vegetables, biological markets with a lot of artisan products and antique and second-hand markets. It’s a nice place to get to know a country and it’s people, and of course a good place to stock up on some great local produce. At the aforementioned events there is also always some kind of market to be found.
